Swydo vs Data Studio
Data Studio (formerly Looker Studio) is free, flexible, and at its best with Google data. Swydo is built for agencies reporting on many clients across many platforms. This page is written by the Swydo team. We’ll show you when free really is the better deal, and where the hidden costs of free show up.

The Honest Verdict
Which One’s Right for Your Agency?
Skip the marketing claims. Here’s the short version, based on real pricing and feature parity.
- Your clients run almost entirely on Google (GA4, Google Ads, Search Console, BigQuery) and your reporting budget is zero
- You have an in-house analyst who enjoys building custom visuals, calculated fields and pixel-perfect layouts from scratch
- You need a few internal dashboards, not a reporting workflow repeated across dozens of clients
- You report on Meta, LinkedIn, TikTok or Microsoft Ads — they’re native in Swydo. In Data Studio, most non-Google platforms need partner connectors, many of them paid
- You manage many clients — build a report once and reuse it across clients, instead of duplicating a report and swapping data sources for each one
- You want one screen showing every client’s KPIs — Swydo’s Monitoring Overview. Data Studio has no cross-client view
- You want to know when a connection breaks — Swydo’s Data Source Health alerts you. Data Studio reviewers report connections that break or need re-authentication
- You want white-label reports on your own domain — Data Studio reports stay on Google’s domain
- You want support and help moving over — Swydo includes human support and free migration of your Data Studio reports

SwydoFAQ
The Questions Agencies Actually Ask
Is Data Studio the same as Looker Studio?
Yes. Google Data Studio was renamed Looker Studio in 2022, and Google now calls it Data Studio again. It’s the same free visualization tool. It’s separate from Looker, Google’s enterprise BI platform.
Is Data Studio really free?
The software is. Creators and viewers pay nothing. Data Studio Pro costs $9 per user per project per month and adds team content management, admin controls and Google Cloud support.
For agencies, the costs usually come from elsewhere: partner connectors for non-Google platforms, and the time to build and maintain a report for every client.
Can Data Studio connect to Facebook Ads, LinkedIn or TikTok?
Yes, through partner connectors. Google’s own connectors cover Google products like GA4, Google Ads, Search Console and BigQuery. Most other ad platforms connect through third-party partners, and many of those connectors are paid.
In Swydo, Meta, LinkedIn, TikTok, Microsoft Ads and more are native and included in the price.
Does Data Studio alert me when a connection breaks?
No. There’s no built-in data source monitoring, and G2 reviewers mention connections that break or need re-authentication. You usually find out when a chart shows an error or a client asks why a report is empty.
Swydo’s Data Source Health monitors every connection and alerts your team by email or Slack.
Why pay for Swydo when Data Studio is free?
If your clients run only on Google platforms and you have a handful of them, you may not need to. Swydo pays for itself when you report across many clients and many platforms: native non-Google integrations, reusable templates, cross-client monitoring, connection alerts, white-label on your domain, and human support.
Can I migrate my Data Studio reports to Swydo?
Yes. Our team rebuilds your reports for free as part of onboarding, typically in 2–5 working days. Learn about our migration service →
Can I use Data Studio and Swydo together?
Yes. Some agencies keep Data Studio for internal BigQuery analysis and use Swydo for client-facing reporting, monitoring and alerts.
When would I pick Data Studio over Swydo?
When your clients run mostly on Google, your budget is zero, and someone on your team enjoys building reports by hand. It’s also a natural fit for teams already standardized on BigQuery and Google Cloud.
